Select base metals rise on global cues

Select base metal prices rose up to Rs 5 per kg in the wholesale non-ferrous metal market today on increased offtake by consuming industries amid firm trend overseas.

Trading sentiment turned better after copper climbed for the second day in London and Shanghai on expectations that supplies will not keep pace with demand as mining companies struggle to boost output.

Meanwhile, three-month copper delivery rose on the London Metal Exchange as much as 1.1 per cent to $10,045 a metric tonne.

In the national capital, copper wire scrap, copper wire bar and copper mixed scrap were rose by Rs 5 each to Rs 522, Rs 545 and Rs 506, while nickel (4x4) followed suit and traded higher by the same margin to Rs 1,062-1,064 per kg.

Tin ingot too traded in positive zone with a gain of Rs 5 to Rs 845 per kg.
