Select grains up on increased demand

Firm conditions prevailed on the wholesale grains market today as wheat and other grains strengthened on increased buying activity against restricted arrivals.
Traders said persistent buying by flour mills to meet the increased marriage season demand, led to the rise in wheat dara prices.
In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) inched up by Rs 5 to Rs 1,355-1,360, while atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded higher by the same margin to Rs 1,360-1,365 per 90 kg.
Atta flour mills and sooji also went up by Rs 10 each to Rs 710-730 and Rs 830-850 per 50 kg in line with firming wheat trend.
Maize maintained its upward march and added Rs 20 to Rs 1,070-1,080 and bajra gained Rs 10 to Rs 830-840 per quintal, respectively.
