Sensex back to lower levels, down 194pts

The Sensex has slipped back to lower levels and is now down 194 points at 8,131.

The BSE FMCG index has plunged over 3% to 1,793. The Realty index has shed 2.7% at 1,311, and the Bankex has declined over 2% to 3,658.
 
Hindustan Unilever has slumped 5% to Rs 213, and ITC has shed 4.7% at Rs 157.

Hindalco has tumbled 4.5% to Rs 38. Sun Pharma, Wipro and DLF have dropped around 4% each to Rs 979, Rs 205 and Rs 140, respectively.

SBI, TCS and Jaiprakash Assocaites have slipped over 3.5% each to Rs 906, Rs 464 and Rs 67, respectively.

Bharti Airtel and Reliance Communications have declined around 3% each to Rs 583 and Rs 134, respectively.

Tata Steel, Tata Power, Reliance Infrastructrue, ICICI Bank and Ranbaxy are the other major losers.

HDFC, however, has surged 2.7% to Rs 1,257.

The market breadth is fairly negative - out of 2,290 stocks traded so far, 1,463 have declined, 749 have advanced and 78 are unchanged.
