Sensex continues to gain, up 420pts

The Sensex has gained 421 points. The index has touched a high of 14,741, up 491 points, and is now at 14,671.

Mahindra & Mahindra has soared 7.5% to Rs 773.

Tata Motors, ICICI Bank and Reliance Infrastructure have surged 6.5% each to Rs 316, Rs 739 and Rs 1,126, respectively.

Jaiprakash Associates, DLF and Hero Honda have advanced 5.5% each to Rs 210, Rs 334 and Rs 1,623, respectively.

Bharti Airtel and HDFC have gained over 5% each to Rs 825 and Rs 2,497, respectively.

Tata Power, TCS, SBI, Infosys, ITC, Wipro, Larsen & Toubro, Hindalco and HDFC Bank are up 3-4.5% each.

However, Sterlite and NTPC are marginally down.

The market breadth is extremely positive - out of 2,635 shares traded, 1,764 have advanced and 776 have declined.
