Sensex down 100pts; ICICI, HDFC Bank shed 4%

The Sensex has slipped deeper into red and is now down 102 points at 11,700.

Larsen & Toubro has slumped over 7% to Rs 1,005. ITC has plunged nearly 6% to Rs 170.

Sterlite has tumbled over 5% to Rs 318, and HDFC Bank has dropped over 4% to Rs 1,152.

Maruti, Tata Power and ICICI Bank have shed 3.7% each at Rs 635, Rs 769 and Rs 473, respectively.

Mahindra & Mahindra has slipped nearly 2% to Rs 488. SBI and Hindustan Unilever have declined around 2.5% each to Rs 1,396 and Rs 244, respectively.

Satyam and Reliance Communications are down over 2% each to Rs 288 and Rs 294, respectively.

ONGC has surged nearly 3% to Rs 1,008. NTPC has rallied 1.7% to Rs 172.

Wipro, Tata Motors, Bharti Airtel and Ranbaxy have advanced around 1.5% each to Rs 325, Rs 318, Rs 740 and Rs 250, respectively.

Infosys is up 1% at Rs 1,331.
