The Sensex opened 60 points lower at 9,364, and is now down 159 points at 9,266.
DLF has slumped nearly 12% to Rs 156. Sterlite and Tata Motors have plunged over 3.5% each to Rs 266 and Rs 144, respectively.
Tata Steel and HDFC have dropped 3.3% each to Rs 179 and Rs 1,487, respectively.
Mahindra & Mahindra has shed 3% at Rs 292. Wipro and SBI have slipped around 2.5% each to Rs 225 and Rs 1,123, respectively.
Jaiprakash Associates and Bharti Airtel are down 2% each at Rs 75 and Rs 621, respectively.
