Sensex down 237pts; NTPC, Sterlite drop 2%

The Sensex is now down 237 points at 14,328.

Maruti has plunged 3.5% to Rs 628. Ranbaxy and Tata Steel have tumbled over 3% each to Rs 502 and Rs 581, respectively.

Bharti Airtel has shed 2.8% at Rs 814. Hindustan Unilever, Reliance Infrastructure and Jaiprakash Associates have slipped around 2.5% each to Rs 239, Rs 967 and Rs 160, respectively.

Reliance Communications, ICICI Bank and Infosys have dropped over 2% each to Rs 387, Rs 657 and Rs 1,712, respectively.

NTPC and Sterlite have declined 2% each to Rs 172 and Rs 615, respectively.

Tata Power and Tata Motors have shed 1.7% each at Rs 1,033 and Rs 433, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro, ONGC and Mahindra & Mahindra are down around 1.5% each at Rs 2,549, Rs 1,009 and Rs 570, respectively.

Out of 2,584 stocks traded so far, 1,323 have declined, 1,173 have advanced and 88 are unchanged.
