Sensex down 279pts in early trades; ICICI drops 6%

The Sensex opened with a negative gap of 207 points at 9,084. The index is now down 279 points at 9,012.

Jaiprakash Associates and ICICI Bank have slumped nearly 6% each to Rs 68 and Rs 365, respectively. Reliance Infrastructure has tumbled 5.5% to Rs 458.

Sterlite has plunged over 5% to Rs 216. ACC and TCS have shed 4.5% each at Rs 417 and Rs 496, respectively.

HDFC, Hindalco, Reliance and DLF have dropped over 4% each to Rs 1,435, Rs 52, Rs 1,095 and Rs 222, respectively.

Satyam, Infosys and Wipro have slipped nearly 4% each to Rs 242, Rs 1,186 and Rs 242, respectively.
