The Sensex opened with a significant negative gap of 373 points at 8,401. The index after a bried recovery to 8,490, slipped deeper into red to a low of 8,359.
The index is now down 344 points at 8,429.
ICICI Bank has slumped 7% to Rs 323. Reliance Infrastructure has plunged 6.7% to Rs 425.
HDFC Bank, DLF and HDFC have shed 6% each at Rs 833, Rs 211 and Rs 1,285, respectively.
Tata Power has dropped 5.8% to Rs 638. Reliance Communications has slipped 5.5% to Rs 188.
Maruti, Wipro and Reliance have declined 4.4% each to Rs 494, Rs 213 and Rs 1,084, respectively.
Tata Motors and BHEL are down 4% each at Rs 130 and Rs 1,182, respectively.
