Sensex down 425pts; Tata Steel sheds 8%

The Sensex opened with a significant negative gap of 365 points at 9,755 on the back of negative cues from the US markets. The index has slipped deeper into red and is now down 425 points at 9,695.

Tata Steel and Tata Motors have slumped over 8% each to Rs 198 and Rs 167, respectively. DLF has plunged nearly 7% to Rs 247.

Hindalco, ICICI Bank and Jaiprakash Associates have dropped around 6.5% each to Rs 57, Rs 423 and Rs 75, respectively.

Reliance has dropped over 6% to Rs 1,192. Satyam has slipped 5.5% to Rs 264.

Reliance Communications and HDFC Bank are down 5% each at Rs 215 and Rs 1,041, respectively.
