The Sensex opened 125 points lower at 9,111, and touched a low of 9,087 in opening trades. Fresh buying interest at lower levels has helped the index recoup most losses and touch a high of 9,199. The index is now down 71 points at 9,165.
Sun Pharma has slumped 7.5% to Rs 1,057. BHEL has plunged 3.5% to Rs 1,307.
ICICI Bank, Tata Steel, NTPC and Sterlite have shed 2.5% each at Rs 398, Rs 179, Rs 185 and Rs 261, respectively.
Tata Motors has dropped nearly 2% to Rs 148. TCS, Mahindra & Mahindra and Reliance Infrastructure have slipped 1.5% each to Rs 502, Rs 292 and Rs 548, respectively.
ONGC has surged over 2% to Rs 653. Ranbaxy has moved up 1.8% to Rs 214.
Grasim, ITC, Maruti and Hindustan Unilever have advanced around 1% each to Rs 1,196, Rs 178, Rs 550 and Rs 260, respectively.
