Sensex extends losses; ICICI Bank sheds 6%

The Sensex has extended losses and is now down 243 points at 9,062.

DLF has slumped 6.7% to Rs 146. ICICI Bank has tumbled 5.5% to Rs 387.

Mahindra & Mahindra has plunged 5% to Rs 299. Hindalco and HDFC Bank have shed 4.5% each at Rs 42 and Rs 874, respectively.

Tata Steel and Maruti have dropped around 4% each to Rs 176 and Rs 596, respectively.

Tata Power and Wipro have slipped 3.7% each to Rs 747 and Rs 208, respectively.

TCS, Infosys and Reliance Communications have declined around 3.5% each to Rs 483, Rs 1,181 and Rs 165, respectively.

HDFC, Reliance Infrastructure, Jaiprakash Associates, Sterlite, Grasim, SBI and Reliance are the other major losers.

The market breadth is very negative - out of 2,148 stocks traded so far, 1,527 declined, 548 advanced and the rest were unchanged.
