The Sensex has erased most of its gains and is now up 15 points at 8,794. The index had opened with a positive gap of 126 points, and soon touched a high of 8,928 in early trades.
Bharti Airtel has surged over 4% to Rs 609. Grasim and Jaiprakash Associates have rallied 3% each to Rs 1,175 and Rs 67, respectively.
ACC and Sterlite have moved up over 2.5% each to Rs 491 and Rs 243, respectively.
TCS has rallied 2% to Rs 500, and ICICI Bank has advanced over 1% to Rs 374.
Hindalco has slumped over 5% to Rs 45. Ranbaxy has plunged 4.7% to Rs 195.
DLF and Mahindra & Mahindra have dropped nearly 3% each to Rs 176 and Rs 288, respectively.
Tata Motors has declined 1.5% to Rs 138.
