The markets have extended gains owing to buying in banking and realty stocks. The Sensex is now 223 points higher at 17,936. The NSE Nifty is at 5,366, up 62 points.
Among the Sensex-30 stocks, Tata Motors and HDFC have gained 4% each at Rs 806 and Rs 2,830, respectively.
Jaiprakash Associates, HDFC Bank, Hindalco Industries, Hero Honda and Sterlite Industries have added 2-3% each on the BSE.
The other major gainers are Tata Steel, Reliance Industries, SBI and Infosys, up 1-2% each.
Bharti Airtel and Wipro are the only major losers on the BSE, down 1% each on the BSE.
All the sectoral indices are moving in the green. Bankex and oil & gas indices have added 1.5% each at 10,907 and 10,449, respectively.
The BSE midcap and the smallcap indices have added 1% each on the BSE.
