Sensex off the day's low; HDFC, ICICI Bank weak

The Sensex is off the day's low of 8,788, and is now down 74 points at 8,829.

Ranbaxy has slumped nearly 14% to Rs 179. ICICI Bank has tumbled 4.5% to Rs 326.

HDFC has plunged over 4% to Rs 1,203. DLF has shed 3% at Rs 150.

Jaiprakash Associates has dropped 2% to Rs 66. BHEL and SBI have slipped 1.5% each to Rs 1,358 and Rs 1,023, respectively.

HDFC Bank and Maruti have declined 1.3% each to Rs 852 and Rs 654, respectively.

Bharti Airtel, Tata Steel and Tata Power are down over 1% each to Rs 635, Rs 160 and Rs 736, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro has surged 2.5% to Rs 627. Tata Motors is up 1% at Rs 141.
