Sensex pares gains; ACC, Grasim firm

The Sensex opened 62 points higher at 9,129, and soon touched a high of 9,225. The index, thereafter, has pared gains and is now up 44 points at 9,111.

Grasim has surged nearly 3% to Rs 1,224, and ACC has gained 2.5% at Rs 505.

ITC has rallied nearly 2% to Rs 181. BHEL has moved up 1.5% to Rs 1,327.

Wipro, Sterlite and TCS have advanced around 1.3% each at Rs 223, Rs 267 and Rs 498, respectively.

Bharti Airtel, ONGC, Hindustan Unilever and Reliance are up around 1% each at Rs 623, Rs 647, Rs 265 and Rs 1,290, respectively.

DLF has slumped 7.6% to Rs 142. Tata Motors has tumbled 4.7% to Rs 136.

Ranbaxy has shed 3% at Rs 204. Jaiprakash Associates and Hindalco have dropped 2% each to Rs 65 and Rs 45, respectively.

Tata Power, SBI and NTPC are down over 1% each at Rs 741, Rs 1,083 and Rs 179, respectively.
