The Sensex after opening 68 points lower at 9,042, touched a low of 9,035, before rebounding into the positive zone. The index rallied to a high of 9,261 - up 226 points from the day's low. The index, thereafter, has pared gains and is now up 49 points at 9,159.
Infosys has surged 5.5% to Rs 1,219. Tata Power has gained 3.5% at Rs 753.
ITC, DLF and ACC have moved up 3% each to Rs 170, Rs 212 and Rs 511, respectively.
Reliance Infrastructure and Wipro have advanced 2.8% each to Rs 494 and Rs 234, respectively. Jaiprakash Associates and TCS have added over 2.5% each to Rs 71 and Rs 524, respectively.
Ranbaxy and Larsen & Toubro are up over 2% each at Rs 212 and Rs 710, respectively.
Bharti Airtel, Grasim and Tata Motors have plunged around 2.5% each at Rs 609, Rs 1,326 and Rs 158, respectively.
Hindustan Unilever and Tata Steel have shed 2% each at Rs 257 and Rs 196, respectively.
Mahindra & Mahindra and NTPC are down over 1% each at Rs 305 and Rs 169, respectively.
