Sensex pares gains; Tata Power, Tata Steel slip into red

The Sensex has pared some gains from a high of 15,423 on the back of profit taking in select counters. The index is now up 384 poinst at 15,345.

The NSE Nifty is up 88 points at 4,591.

Maruti has zoomed 7.3% to Rs 659. HDFC Bank has soared 7% to Rs 1,267, and ICICI Bank has rallied 5.8% to Rs 734.

BHEL and Tata Motors have gained 4.5% each at Rs 1,849 and Rs 428, respectively. HDFC has added 3.5% to Rs 2,553.

Bharti Airtel and Mahindra & Mahindra have advanced 3% each to Rs 865 and Rs 564, respectively.

SBI, Jaiprakash Associates and ACC have moved up over 2% each to Rs 1,614, Rs 189 and Rs 629, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro, DLF and Reliance are also up over 2% each at Rs 2,756, Rs 565 and Rs 2,323, respectively.

Tata Power has plunged over 3% to Rs 1,066. Tata Steel has shed 2.3% to Rs 660.
