Sensex pares gains, up 74pts; Grasim sheds 4%

The Sensex opened 185 points higher at 10,160, and soon touched a high of 10,214. The index has pared gains and is now up 74 points at 10,049.

Wipro has zoomed nearly 7% to Rs 275. Satyam has soared over 5% to Rs 280.

Tata Motors, HDFC Bank and Reliance Communications have rallied around 4.5% each to Rs 254, Rs 1,069 and Rs 244, respectively.

TCS and ONGC have gained 4% each at Rs 472 and Rs 806, respectively.

Bharti Airtel and Infosys are up 3.5% each at Rs 702 and Rs 1,244, respectively.

Grasim has plunged over 4% to Rs 1,240. SBI has slipped nearly 2% to Rs 1,388.

Tata Power and NTPC are down 1% each at Rs 740 and Rs 148, respectively.
