Sensex up 134pts; Satyam, NTPC weak

The Sensex is now up 134 points at 14,378.

Sterlite has surged 4.7% to Rs 629, and Hindalco has rallied nearly 4% to Rs 134.

Hindustan Unilever has gained 3.7% to Rs 245. Reliance Infrastructure and Tata Power have moved up 2.5% each to Rs 978 and Rs 1,047, respectively.

Maruti and Infosys have advanced nearly 2% each to Rs 630 and Rs 1,695, respectively.

Reliance Communications, Mahindra & Mahindra and ACC have added 1.7% each to Rs 405, Rs 549 and Rs 558, respectively.

HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, Tata Motors and ONGC are up around 1.5% each to Rs 1,184, Rs 811, Rs 424 and Rs 1,023, respectively.

Satyam has plunged 3.3% to Rs 386, and NTPC has shed 2.8% at Rs 169.

Grasim, Wipro and Larsen & Toubro are down over 1% each at Rs 1,944, Rs 417 and Rs 2,599, respectively.

The market breadth is negative - out of 2,649 stocks traded so far, 1,387 have declined, 1,149 have advanced and 113 are unchanged.
