Sensex up 179pts in noon trades

The Sensex slipped from its high and is now up 179 points at 16,871.

The Nifty is up 50 points at 5,008.

Sun Pharma continues to rally and is now up 6% at Rs 1,390. TCS has surged 4% to Rs 613.

Wipro has added 3% to Rs 585. ICICI Bank and Infosys have advanced 2.5% each to Rs 859 and Rs 2,298, respectively.

Bharti Airtel, Reliance, Tata Steel and DLF have moved up around 1% each.

However, Grasim has slipped 1% to Rs 2,804.

The market breadth continues to be positive. Out of 2,603 shares traded, 1,768 have advanced while 772 have declined.
