The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 115 points at 8,275. The index is now up 186 points at 8,347.
ICICI Bank has soared nearly 6% to Rs 278. Sterlite has surged 3.5% to Rs 253.
Reliance Communications, Wipro and Infosys have rallied over 3% each to Rs 137, Rs 212 and Rs 1,235, respectively.
HDFC Bank and Tata Motors have gained 3% each at Rs 823 and Rs 141, respectively.
Hindustan Unilever, Reliance, HDFC and SBI have moved up 2.7% each to Rs 223, Rs 1,186, Rs 1,290 and Rs 921, respectively.
TCS, Jaiprakash Associates, Tata Steel and Larsen & Toubro are up around 2.5% each at Rs 475, Rs 68, Rs 156 and Rs 575, respectively.
Hindalco, Reliance Infrastructure and Ranbaxy are the other major gainers.
