Sensex volatile, down 35pts

The Sensex is highly volatile and the index is now 35 points lower at 13,878.

The BSE IT and the Metal indices are up over 1.5% each at 2,876 and 10,108, respectively.

Hindalco has gained 5% to Rs 81. Sterlite has added over 4% to Rs 561.

Infosys and Wipro have advanced 2.6% eachto Rs 1,548 and Rs 376, respectively.

Reliance Infrastructures, HDFC Bank, BHEL and SBI are up over 2% each at Rs 1,160, Rs 1,386, Rs 2,037 and Rs 1,751, respectively.

HDFC, Sun Pharma, Tata Steel and Mahindra & Mahindra have gained over 1% each.

Ranbaxy has slipped over 5% to Rs 253. Bharti Airtel has dropped over 4.5% to Rs 774.

Reliance Communications, ITC and NTPC have declined 2% each to Rs 313, Rs 185 and Rs 208, respectively.

Tata Motors is down 1% at Rs 343.

The market breadth is positive, ot of 2,638 shares traded, 1,940 have advanced, 669 have declined and 29 are unchanged so far on the BSE.
