Silver prices climbed by Rs 455 to Rs 61,450 per kg in futures trade today as traders indulged in creating fresh positions in tandem with a firm global trend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for December delivery shot up by Rs 455, or 0.75%, to Rs 61,450 per kg, with an open interest of 448 lots.
Similarly, the metal for September delivery climbed by Rs 463, or 0.78%, to Rs 60,181 per kg, with a business turnover of 8,517 lots.
Market analysts said fresh buying by speculators in tandem with a firming global trend mainly pushed up silver futures prices.
Meanwhile, silver traded 0.25% higher at $40.01 an ounce in the Asian region.
