Turmeric prices jumped by Rs 170 or 1.15 per cent to Rs 15,000 per 100 kgs in the futures market today, on good appetite in the spot market and overseas demand.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for September month contract delivery surged Rs 170, or 1.15 per cent to Rs 15,000 per 100 kgs, with an open interest of 1,956 lots.
Similarly, turmeric for August delivery edged up by Rs 132 or 0.87 per cent to Rs 15,250 per 100 kgs in 8,990 lots.
In spot trading in Nizamabad, Andhra Pradesh, turmeric gained Rs 58 at Rs 15,653 per 100 kgs in yesteray's trading.
Analysts attributed the rise in turmeric prices in futures trade market to strong spot market appetite and good export demand.
