VA Tech Wabag gains as JV wins Rs 580 crore project in Bahrain

The stock up nearly 4% at Rs 818 on the BSE in early morning trade.

Shares of VA Tech Wabag were higher by nearly 4% at Rs 818 on the BSE in early morning trade in an otherwise weak market after the company along with their joint venture (JV) partner, Belhasa Projects, won an EPC order in the water and waste water treatment space in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) order for Al Madina Al Shamaliya, the new town being developed in Bahrain, is for a value of over Rs 580 crore, VA Tech Wabag said in a press release.

The project is funded by Abu Dhabi Fund for Economic Development (ADFD). Wabag will design & build the 40MLD Al Madina Al Shamaliya Sewage Treatment Plant for Ministry of Housing Bahrain, the company added.

The stock opened at Rs 799 and touched a high of Rs 818 on the BSE. A combined around 14,000 shares changed hands on the counter on the BSE and NSE till 0917 hours.
