The Sensex is now down 242 points at 13,452.
Wipro has slumped over 4% to Rs 356. ICICI Bank, Satyam and Bharti Airtel have plunged nearly 4% each to Rs 577, Rs 322 and Rs 781, respectively.
TCS, Ranbaxy, Reliance Infrastructure and Hindalco have tumbled around 3% each to Rs 691, Rs 301, Rs 863 and Rs 106, respectively.
DLF, Reliance and SBI have slipped around 2.5% each to Rs 391, Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,484, respectively.
BHEL, ONGC and NTPC are down over 2% each to Rs 1,626, Rs 1,040 and Rs 175, respectively.
Out of 2,480 stocks traded so far, 1,645 have declined, 749 have advanced and 86 are unchanged.
