Zee Entertainment Enterprises will replace United Spirits in the benchmark Nifty 50 with effect from September 19, 2014.
India Index Services & Products Ltd, an NSE-Crisil joint venture that maintains Nifty index, on Wednesday after market hours said in a statement that United Spirits will be excluded from the 50-share bluechip index, while Zee Entertainment Enterprises will be inducted in the index.
In March 2009, the private sector lender Axis Bank replaced Zee Entertainment Enterprises in the NSE’s benchmark 50-share index CNX Nifty.
Shares of Zee Entertainment Enterprises has opened at Rs 294 on NSE and has seen a combined 631,000 shares changing hands on the counter till 0930 hours on NSE and BSE.
United Spirits on the other hand, was trading 2% lower at Rs 2,407, after hitting low of Rs 2,390 on NSE.
