More than 250 Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist have infiltrated into the Kashmir valley with the intention of carrying out attacks, out of which 107 are locals from the Valley and the rest are from Pakistan.

According to Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) sources, these terrorist had infiltrated in the region before the surgical strikes carried out by the Indian Army on September 29 along the Line of Control (LoC).

Earlier today, terrorists attacked a police party in Jammu and Kashmir's Pampore District.

The terrorists are reportedly holed up inside the Entrepreneur Development Institute (EDI) Building, situated on the outskirts of Srinagar.

From the past one-week, the valley has seen spurt in infiltration bids with majority of the terrorists emanating from across the Line of Control (LoC).

On Friday, a police constable Nazir Ahmad was killed in a militant attack in Shopian district.

He was killed when militants fired at cops, who tried to repulse their rifle-snatching bid at a police post in Reshnagri area. Another cop and a civilian were injured too.

The attack came amid heightened tension between India and Pakistan and repeated ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the border.
