11th Bengaluru International Film Festival to kick start in February

With a special theme of 'Nature's Fury,' The Bengaluru International Film Festival (BIFFES) is all set for its 11th edition, which will be held from February 07, 2019 to February 14, 2019, in Bengaluru.

Being organised by the Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy and Department of Information and Public Relations of Government of Karnataka, the opening event of the festival will be held in the presence of National and International delegates, filmmakers and celebrities in Bengaluru at Banquet Hall, Vidhanasoudha.

While the closing event for the conferring of awards will be held on February 14, 2019. To give it a definite date, the festival is always held on first Thursday of February every year.

With about 200 films from 50 Countries, the screenings will be held at 11 screens which will be attended by filmmakers, film critics & International and National film distribution companies, and cine loving public.

The eleventh edition will have different sections, namely Cinema of the World, Retrospectives, Country Focus, Grand Classics, Homages & Remembrances, FIPRESCI (International Federation of Film Critics) award winners, Network for promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC) award winners, Biopics, Unsung Incredible India, Films from little known languages and Curated Documentary Sections on a specific theme.

The festival will also host various forums for academic interactions on filmmaking and film appreciation like seminars, workshops, master classes among others for the benefit of film professionals, discerning audiences and students on different aspects of cinema.

Interestingly, the 10th edition was a resounding success with a screening of nearly 223 films across 12 screens from more than 50 countries and witnessed by more than 7000 delegates who enjoyed and appreciated the quality of cinema presented.
