About 125 people took ill after consuming contaminated food at a marriage function in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal District on Monday
Members of a marriage party reportedly started throwing up after eating the food.
"We went for a wedding function in Gehra in Sambhal, had food and did a bit of dancing. Afterwards, people started throwing up," said Harphool Singh, a member of the marriage party.
A special ward had to be opened at the local hospital to deal with the rush of sick people.
District Medical Officer Pawan Kumar said, "This can be called as suspected food poisoning or gastritis. The problem is related to gastritis only. Most of the people complained of throwing up. Treatment has begun and fast improvement is visible."
Some dishes and sweets served at the function were said to be contaminated.
