One Direction's third studio album 'Midnight Memories' has been named Britain's best-selling album of 2013, within just five weeks of its release.

The quintet released the album in November, and it has already racked up almost 700,000 units, Contactmusic reported.

Scottish singer Emeli Sande claimed the second position, as her album has sold 683,000 copies.

The boyband's album has also been credited as the fastest selling album of 2013, with 237,000 copies sold during its first week on sale.
