Bangladesh police has reportedly charged 42 people, including the owner of Rana Plaza, Sohel Rana, in two cases filed over the building's collapse in 2013, which killed 1,135 people, mostly garment workers.
Bijoy Krishna Kar, assistant superintendent of Criminal Investigation Department, submitted two charge-sheets before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Dhaka: one for murder and another for violating building code, reported The Daily Star.
A total of 594 people were shown as prosecution witnesses in the case while 130 in the other case. Among the accused, at least 25 people, including, some government officials, were shown as absconding.
A court hearing is scheduled to take place on June 28 to decide further proceedings.
The nine-storied building, which housed several readymade garment factories, collapsed on April 24, 2013.
