An earthquake measuring 5.6 magnitude on the Richter scale hit Guatemala's Escuintla province at around 8
It struck at a depth of around 97 km near Guanagazapa. The epicentre of the quake was situated almost 70 km from Guatemala City, as per media reports.
According to the National Coordination for Disaster Reduction of Guatemala (CONRED), the disaster management agency of the Guatemalan government, no damage of properties or loss of casualties were reported, CNN reported.
The massive earthquake comes after over 100 people were killed and a hundred others were injured and found missing after the Fuego Volcano erupted on June 4.
Guatemalan President Jimmy Morales had earlier declared a national emergency and urged people to stay calm and not wander around the affected areas.
Meanwhile, a 6.1 magnitude earthquake rattled the city of Osaka in western Japan on Monday morning, leading to partial building collapses.
Two people, including a nine-year-old girl and over 200 people were injured in the disaster, as per NHK World.
Meanwhile, the Japan Meteorological Agency said no tsunami warning has been issued yet.
Both Japan and Guatemala are situated in the "Ring of Fire", an area in the basin of the Pacific Ocean, which is vulnerable to frequent earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
