Tobacco products will now carry 85 percent pictorial warnings as a Central notification comes into effect today all over the country.
The Health Ministry's notification of September 24, 2015, for implementation of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Packaging and Labelling) Amendment Rules, 2014, comes into force from today onwards. These prescribe larger pictorial warnings on tobacco products.
Earlier, the ministry had made a commitment to the Rajasthan High Court on March 28 this year that all tobacco products manufactured from April1onwards will carry larger pictorial health warnings.
