Doping accused American baseball star Alex Rodriguez has reportedly hired a top New York criminal defense lawyer to boost his legal team as he ups the offense in the fight for his career.
According to the New York Post, Joe Tacopina, who relishes a high-profile case, has joined A-Rod's legal team and is expected to make a series of media appearances to defend the New York Yankees player.
Calling Tacopina a 'fighter', a source said that the lawyer is what Rodriguez needs at the moment, adding that he has been brought on to reinforce the trial team as there is a possibility that the case may go all the way to federal court.
Sources further said that A-Rod's camp believes the Yankees want out of his contract, adding that their fining the player 150,000 dollars just before his comeback was 'seen as an attempt to break his spirit'.
