New Delhi, Oct 16 (ANI): Communications and Information Technology (IT) Minister Kapil Sibal has acknowledged the rise of Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), but said that this newly-formed political outfit is not the future of Delhi.
In an exclusive interview given to Reuters, Sibal said one must understand that any party that comes into the fray cannot be disregarded.
"No matter what we think about any political party, there are independents who win an election, do we give then credence at the time of the election, but they do win an election. There are several factors that come into play when people win elections," said Sibal.
"So, it is not as if we should brush aside the Aam Aadmi Party, but it is also not as if the Aam Aadmi Party is the future of Delhi," he added.
The Aam Aadmi Party has been critical of the Sheila Dikshit-led Congress Government in Delhi.
The Model Code of Conduct has come into force in five states, including Delhi, going for the assembly polls.
Voters in all the five states of Delhi, Rajasthan, Mizoram, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh will for the first time have the choice of 'None of the above option' to reject the candidates contesting the election in a constituency.
Delhi will go to polls on December 4, while the counting of votes in all the states will take place on December 8.
