'AAP approaching SC, raising EVM tampering issue are diversionary tactics': Jaitley

Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Arun Jaitley on Tuesday said the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) complaining against the Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) being tampered or approaching Supreme Court to ask for SIT probe into funding for all parties are diversionary tactics.

"It is obvious that it is a round tripping of black money into the system of a political party. Now, if you have trapped yourself in an incident of this kind, there is no point you should start blaming other political parties and try and deflect the agenda, or the voting machines are being tampered, we will go to the Supreme Court and say investigate everyone in the world because everybody is dishonest. These are all diversionary tactics," Jaitley told ANI.

The Aam Aadmi Party has demanded a Supreme Court monitored Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe funding of all three major parties in Delhi polls.

The party's demand comes a day after an activists group calling themselves AVAM (AAP Volunteer Action Manch), alleged that last year the party received 50 lakhs through four bogus companies that were fronts for money-laundering.

The party has also alleged that the EVMs are being tampered with ahead of the assembly elections in the national capital.

The elections for the 70-member Delhi Assembly will be held in a single phase on February 7. The counting of votes will take place on February 10. The last day of campaigning is February 5.
