The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) provided proof on Thursday to back party chief Arvind Kejriwal's earlier charges of corruption against Bharatiya Janata Party's Delhi unit chief Satish Upadhyay.

"Satish Upadhyay said that when he joined active politics, he had resigned from all the companies. But Upadhyay is still the director of two companies," AAP spokesperson Raghav Chadha said, showing a record by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) to mediapersons.

Chadha further stated that according to the Delhi Value Added Tax Act (DVAT Act), one company registered at the same address cannot have two VAT registration numbers. But the record shows that Satish Upadhyay's company had two registration numbers.

Further, Chadha said that the shares owned by Upadhyay's companies and those mentioned in the election affidavit were conflicted.

"When Upadhyay contested the MCD elections in 2012, he mentioned in his affidavit that his company New Delhi Communication Network Limited had shares of 1, 17,700 with a face value of Rs 10. But in actuality, the shares are being sold at Rs 1,000 face value."

Meanwhile, AAP leader Manish Sisodia alleged that the people of the national capital are extremely worried with the inflated electricity bills.

"The people of Delhi are unhappy because of faulty meters and inflated bills," he said.

"Satish Upadhyay said he would quit politics if we present evidence. Hope he keeps his word," he added.

Earlier in the day, the BJP registered a complaint with the Election Commission against Kejriwal for defaming and accusing Upadhyay of corruption charges.
