Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Vijendra Gupta on Tuesday criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government for recommending hike in the salaries of its MLAs instead of helping the MCDs which are currently facing problems due to lack of basic allowances.
"They have denied helping MCDs which are facing problems due to lack of basic allowance. No salary is given to the sanitation workers. Pensioners are not getting their pensions. On the other hand, they have spend 526 crore on advertisements and now they are increasing their MLAs' salaries," Gupta told ANI.
He alleged that the Delhi government has put tax burden on the common people and has been working for themselves and their MLAs.
"Since the last eight month, they have put a total of 7,500 crore of tax on common man. They are doing nothing for people. No development has been done for the people. They are only thinking about themselves," he said
According to Gupta, his party will oppose the recommendation in the floor of the house if the AAP Government does not give a proper justification of the matter.
An independent panel has recommended salary hike of the MLAs. The recommendation suggests that MLA's salary should be increased to Rs. 50,000 from the current Rs. 12,000 and Rs. 70,000 for assistance.
