The proposed cricket bilateral series between Pakistan and Afghanistan in April has been put on hold in the aftermath of Lahore blast, which claimed the lives of more than 70 people.

According to ESPNcricinfo, Afghanistan had been in talks to tour Pakistan for a three-match one-day International series and a four-day game against Pakistan 'A' side. The ODI series was tentatively scheduled to be held between April 15 and May 8.

The public park targeted in the recent suicide bombing in Lahore was popular with families and is located 15 minutes away from Gaddafi Stadium.

Amidst the fresh wave of security concerns, Kenya Women's cricket team have also called off their trip to Pakistan.

Last year, Zimbabwe became the first Test-playing nation to visit Pakistan in six years, after a terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in Lahore in 2009 put the brakes on international cricket in the country.

As a result of the same, Pakistan had to host all its home matches in the neutral venue of United Arab Emirates.
