After securing a second Wimbledon title and his seventh Grand Slam win, Serb tennis star Novak Djokovic said that he feels vindicated in making the decision to hire former tennis great Boris Becker as his coach.

Djokovic defeated Roger Federer in five sets in an epic final at the All England Club on Sunday.

The Serb had lost his previous three Grand Slam finals, and decided to make Becker his main coach, with Marian Vajda, with whom Djokovic had won all six of his major titles, filling in on a part-time basis.

Sport24 quoted Djokovic, 27, as saying that he turned to Becker to try to give him the edge in Grand Slam finals again and at Wimbledon, with Vajda back home, it all fell into place as he held his nerve to defeat Federer.

He said that his association with Becker progressed, he got closer to the German, and started understanding him and his tactics better, and that helped to turn things around.

Becker, he said, focussed on mental toughness and self belief, he said.
