Agnes Varda to receive honorary Palme d'Or at Cannes Film Festival
French film director and professor Agnes Varda will be honored with Palme d'Or at the closing ceremony of this year's Cannes Film Festival.
The 86-year-old helmer, who started out her career as a photographer, is the first woman selected for this distinction, Deadline.com reported.
Woody Allen, Clint Eastwood and Bernardo Bertolucci are the only three other directors that have been recognized in this way for the global impact of their body of work.
