The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has confirmed that it has initiated disciplinary action against five doctors after an internal probe panel found them guilty of lapses in treatment of a dengue patient, who died at the hospital around a month back.
The AIIMS had appointed a committee after family members of Bharat Agaria alleged that he was not given proper treatment. The family had alleged that Agaria was sent back home twice before being admitted to the hospital for the last time.
AIIMS spokesperson Dr. Amit Gupta said that internal disciplinary action has been initiated against the doctors and relevant show cause notices have been issued seeking their explanation over the lapses. The report has been submitted to the union health ministry.
