The BJP on Friday lashed out at Akbaruddin Owaisi for his unwarranted criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) legislator is building a castle in the air.

BJP leader Zafar Islam asked Owaisi and the AIMIM to introspect their past.

"What tie-up they had with the Congress and how they have grown up what they are today primarily because of the support of the Congress they had received all along. What statement they are making about the Congress is for them to reflect and we are no one to comment on that," Islam told ANI here.

"But as far as his statement on Modi ji is concerned, I think he is building castles in the air," he added.

In a video that has gone viral on the social media, Owaisi has reportedly said that he would wipe out Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress from the country.

Owaisi, who made the remarks during a public meeting at Baba Nagar on January 30 ahead of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections, called Congress leaders slaves of the Gandhis.

The AIMIM MLA also taunted Prime Minister Modi's 'Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas' slogan, saying only a "chaiwala" (tea seller) has prospered after the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
