National carrier Air India's crew members will henceforth wear Khadi made uniforms during their flights.
The Khadi and Village industries Commission (KVIC) has signed an agreement with Air India for this.
According to this agreement, Khadi silk saree, Khadi trousers, Khadi shirts and jackets will be provided to the crew members.
Other essentials provided to passengers during flights will also be of Khadi.
The first experiment of this has been done in the flight which took Prime Minister Narendra Modi to three nations this week.
The KVIC plans to take this initiative further by signing new similar other airlines.
