Air travellers to get more refund on cancellation of tickets

The air travellers will get more refund on cancellation of their tickets from today onwards.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has notified the related changes which will come into effect from Monday.

Accordingly, in case travellers cancel their tickets, the airlines cannot deduct more than the base fare and fuel surcharge.

The airlines will be bound to return the taxes collected from the passengers while booking the tickets and they cannot charge the processing fee for the cancellation of tickets.

The airlines will have to return these fees on all type of bookings made under different offers.

The travellers will also get more compensation if they are declined to board or do not travel or in case of delay in flights due to airlines fault.

In case of checked-in baggage, the airlines would be charging Rs. 100 per kilogram for baggage weight in excess of 15 kg till 20 kg.

At present, the charges are Rs. 300 per kg of excess baggage.
