Uttar Pradesh (UP) Chief Minister Akhilesh Singh Yadav today attended Iftar party hosted by U.P. governor Ram Nayak.
Every year, Hindus and Muslims participate in Iftar festivities with fervour and gaiety. In fact, Hindus visit the houses of their Muslim friends, in order to be part of their celebrations.
During Ramadan, Muslims offer special prayers called Taraweeh at the end of their usual five times prayers. Ramadan lasts for 29 or 30 days and culminates in the Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.
The festival of Eid-ul-Fitr, a joyous occasion for Muslims all over the world, is celebrated after the conclusion of Ramadan.
Muslims abstain from food, drink and other pleasures from sunrise to sunset. For believers, Ramadan is meant to be a time of reflection and worship, remembering the hardships of others and being charitable.
