Former Pakistani skipper Wasim Akram has admitted that he is eagerly waiting for Indian government's 'yes' on the proposed bilateral series between the two sides, which is slated to be held this month.

The 49-year-old insisted that he was as keen as millions of fans, who are waiting for the series sitting across both the borders.

Akram, who wishes for the series to take place, said that the revival would also help in strengthening the friendship between the two nations.

According to him, cricket would not be affected if two sides decide to keep the sport and politics separately, Sport24 reported.

PCB chief Shahryar Khan had asserted that the series' fate would be decided during the ongoing visit of India's Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj to Islamabad.

Earlier, the PCB had said that they would be forced to call off the series if they don't get the nod from the Indian board immediately as the time is not sufficient to make the necessary arrangements.

Pakistan Prime Minister had already given permission to go ahead with the series in the neutrally-decided venue Sri Lanka.
