Former Pakistan pace bowler Wasim Akram has said that the Champions Trophy was a wake up call for everyone involved in Pakistan cricket, and the selectors did the right thing to drop the likes of Kamran Akmal and Shoaib Malik.
In an interview with pakpassion.net, Akram praised the national side for winning both series in the Caribbean where Misbah-ul-Haq led from the front once again in the 50 over format.
The former player said he was delighted for Shahid Afridi who yet again made another good comeback, adding that whenever he was dropped, he came back with a bang.
However, Akram said he did not approve of the decision to give Umar Akmal the gloves because he was not a proper wicket-keeper and asking him to keep wicket just increased pressure on him, adding that he did not keep wicket in domestic cricket either.
